ESCI’s intention is to form a team of experts and collaborators who are able to:
- respond to the environmental challenges associated with the internationalisation of the companies in our country, both in countries with high environmental demands as well as in those in which companies have had to take their own initiative with regard to environmental and social responsibility
- create the necessary knowledge to be able to offer training in the area of environmental management to international students
- represent our country as experts in fields in which trade and the environment have a close relationship
GiGa aims to develop and transmit knowledge about sustainability that can help organisations in their internationalisation models. In order to carry out this objective, the areas in which GiGa works are specified to:
- Analysis of policies, models of development and good practices to be adapted to other countries, markets, products, etc.
- Assessment of the environmental impact of international trade policies and activities
- Definition of environmental, social and economic indicators for making decisions for improvement.
- Development of policies on the environmental quality of products compatible with the demands of the market, the financial limitations and social expectations.
- Design of commercial tools able to comply with the environmental requirements at the same time as opening new market opportunities.
- Knowledge transfer to the communities that represent tomorrow's companies, as well as those involved in co-operation and development.
The research areas are based on applying the life cycle perspective and on integrating the three areas of sustainability. The solutions offered must hence be compatible with the demands of the market, social expectations and respect towards the environment. GiGa is also able to transmit these solutions so that they are taken into consideration in the decision making of organisations.
